As you can see, Barney looked pretty bad when we first met him. However, after two months of having his legs placed in casts at the shelter (prior to these photos), many xrays and visits with 3 specialists, we've been told that Barney, with proper therapy, can indeed "make it".
Barney has been fitted with front leg braces and is making great progress by learning to walk on his toes with the aid of the braces. Because of that his back legs are slowly "coming up". Barney has a huge heart, a fabulous temperament and is just way too sweet not to try to help him. Although Barney is doing some really hard work with the leg braces, what he really needs is hydrotherapy......swimming in a special "resistance pool" at least twice a week to build his muscles.

While his foster family is more than committed to getting Barney to these swimming sessions, we just don't have the money to pay for them. Each session is $45 and Barney needs to go twice a week. If you can sponsor Barney for at least one hydrotherapy session, it would mean so much to this little guy.

And if you can forward Barney's story to your shepherd-loving friends & family, post Barney's story to any GSD lists you belong to and just get his story out there, I'm sure all of us can work together to "repair" this guy and give him a chance at a good life.

Thank you so much from Barney. We will be updating photos to show Barney's progress. And, please, if you can include Barney in your prayers, that would be wonderful!
